Pregnancy is a beautiful and exciting time in a woman’s life, but it can also be confusing due to the abundance of information about what is best for you and your baby. The Internet, magazines and advertisements are full of advice on health in pregnancy, but it is important to distinguish facts from marketing tricks. Ecological and natural products without emulsifiers and preservatives with high absorption which the body quickly recognizes and accepts are always a good choice, and not only for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Although most women know that they should avoid alcohol, cigarettes and seafood with high levels of mercury, many are not aware of how important it is to supplement vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements that are needed in much larger doses than before pregnancy. One of the most important minerals is magnesium.
Why are food supplements important during pregnancy?
Proper nutrition is key in every stage of life but especially during pregnancy, because a pregnant woman has to feed herself and her growing baby. A pregnant woman’s body has increased needs for macronutrients, which include carbohydrates, proteins and fats, but also for micronutrients – vitamins, minerals and trace elements, which are key to the growth and development of your baby.
Vitamins and minerals support many functions in the mother’s body and fetal growth, including cell growth and cell signaling. For example, magnesium is essential for proper DNA and RNA synthesis, which is crucial for the formation of new cells and tissue growth.

Magnesium: Superhero among minerals
Magnesium is a mineral that participates in hundreds of chemical reactions in the body, from strengthening immunity to the proper functioning of muscles and nerves. Its deficiency in pregnancy can increase the risk of serious complications such as chronic hypertension (high blood pressure) and premature birth.
Scientific research shows that adequate magnesium intake during pregnancy can help prevent premature uterine contractions. Also, some studies indicate its role in reducing the risk of other complications such as fetal growth restriction and premature birth. In addition, magnesium can help alleviate some common pregnancy ailments such as leg cramps, constipation, and insomnia.
How much magnesium do you need?
The German Nutrition Society (https://www.dge.de/wissenschaft/referenzwerte/magnesium/) recommends a daily intake of 310 mg of magnesium for pregnant women, which is higher than the regular daily dose. This is because during pregnancy, due to hormonal changes, more magnesium is excreted through the urine. In addition, magnesium plays an important role in cell division and embryonic growth, and in the later stages of pregnancy the baby stores it in the bones and muscles for future development. In the last three months of pregnancy the need for magnesium is greatest because the embryo stores up to 7 mg of magnesium in the growing bones and muscles.
Nursing mothers have an even greater need for magnesium – as much as 390 mg per day. Breast milk contains magnesium that the baby needs for healthy growth and development, and breastfeeding reduces the mother’s magnesium reserves. Breast milk contains an average of 3 mg of magnesium per 100 ml. Sufficient magnesium intake in nursing mothers is also important for maintaining energy and preventing postpartum depression, while the newborn uses it to supply biofactors.

Be Natur magnesium: Benefits for pregnant and breastfeeding women
HIGH ABSORPTION: Be Natur Ionic Mg is quickly and efficiently absorbed through the skin thanks to its high pharmaceutical purity and special solution processing technology. When applied to the skin, magnesium absorption can reach up to 90% through the hair follicle on the body, which is significantly higher than when taking magnesium in tablet form. The reason for the weaker absorption with oral intake is the digestive system. By using Be Natur magnesium through the skin, it is bypassed and thus magnesium enters directly where we need it in the amount we applied.
BYPASSES THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: With prolonged use in increased doses oral magnesium can cause digestive problems such as diarrhea, heartburn or bloating. Be Natur Ionic magnesium is applied directly to the skin, thus avoiding these unpleasant side effects. Magnesium has a relaxing effect on the muscles, so oral intake can lead to a laxative effect. To avoid this, Be Natur magnesium with its transdermal application of magnesium enables targeted absorption into the muscles and tissues where it is most needed.

What is our recommended use of Be Natur magnesium during pregnancy?
PREGNANT WOMEN
Due to the increased need for magnesium, we recommend 3×12 sprays per day (36 sprays total daily). Divide the 12 sprays and spray on your arms, legs and back. After spraying, massage into the skin until it is completely absorbed, as if you were applying body lotion. We do not recommend spraying directly on the abdomen due to stretch marks caused by rapid stretching of the skin if you have them. Stretch marks are damage to the connective tissue, and spraying on these areas may cause an unpleasant stinging sensation because Be Natur magnesium has an antibacterial effect.
BREASTFEEDING WOMEN
Because of an even greater need for magnesium, we recommend 3×15 sprays daily (45 sprays total per day). Divide the 15 sprays and spray them on your arms, legs, and back. After spraying, massage into the skin until fully absorbed, as if applying body lotion. For breastfeeding mothers, we do not recommend spraying Be Natur magnesium on the breasts.
